And Today is International Women’s Day!

As a woman-owned and operated business, we’re passionate about celebrating women today and everyday. Our Minneapolis Craft Market team is made up of 100% women, a statistic we’re proud of (but just feels normal to us). International Women’s Day is about intersectional feminism, it’s about celebrating our achievements and capabilities, and highlighting the power of all those who identify as women. It’s also about acknowledging and continuing the fight ahead, because we still have a long ways to go.

By the numbers…

According to the most recent data from the Census Bureau in 2018, women make 82 cents for every 1 dollar a man makes.

When this statistic is further broken down, it’s clear that women of color, disabled women, and transgender women face an even greater gap in wage and equality.

It’s so important that we consider all identities within feminism and how they affect the experience of being a woman. There’s so much more work to be done.

International Women’s Day

Women’s Day is an international celebration of the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. Most importantly, it is a call to action for gender parity, in an intersectional way.

This year, the theme for International Women’s Day is Choose To Challenge. As stated by organizers, “a challenged world is an alert world. Individually, we're all responsible for our own thoughts and actions - all day, every day. We can all choose to challenge and call out gender bias and inequality. We can all choose to seek out and celebrate women's achievements. Collectively, we can all help create an inclusive world. From challenge comes change, so let's all choose to challenge.”

Happy International Women’s Day, as we recognize the achievements of women as well as the road ahead. Let’s choose to challenge!
