New Maker Tuesday: Lily Low Body Butter

Meet our new maker!

Jasmine Low is the maker behind Lily Low Body Butter. Read her story in her words:

“For nearly ten years, I made my own body butters and didn't give it much of a thought. I have ezcema and Keratosis Pilaris and was looking for an affordable cure. I didn't discover or create a cure, but what did find was moisturized skin. I'd experimented on what oils blended well and what made my skin feel and look good and through a lot of trial and error I found what worked best for me.

Every winter I made my own body butters without given any thought of it being anything special. The idea of business started after Christmastime when a coworker asked for a handmade gift for Christmas. I made her a jar of my body butter and she went nuts over it! Telling everyone about it and asking me to make her more.

Sadly, 4 days later I was fired from my job. And with $100 left in my pocket I thought maybe I could make a batch of body butters and try to sell them. The very same day that I made them, they sold out! And I had requests for more each day. I registered as a business a few days later and have been selling body butters ever since!

Lily is the name of my two grandmothers. One adoptive and one biological. Both offering me wisdom and showing me the way to my core values and beliefs in Kindness, Compassion and Patience. They both taught me the meaning of love, hardwork, and what it truly means to be a black woman.

Low is my married name. I just haven't gotten to the name change process yet!

My body butters are handmade, organic, vegan friendly.”
