Meet Your Maker: Carmine Jack Leather Company

This week we’re excited for you to meet Ryan, Will, and Hiccup, the team behind one of our favorite local businesses. Based in Minnesota, Carmine Jack Leather Company is a Strap Maker specializing in custom sized leather belts. Their goods are beautifully handcrafted that are tough enough to last. As June comes to an end, we are proud to highlight one of many of our LGBTQ+ makers!

It all began out of necessity

Carmine Jack was born because Ryan needed a better work bag to withstand his daily commute. Dissatisfied with what he was finding in stores, he thought he could make something better. And he did! Ryan decided to name the company after his two grandfathers Carmine and Jack, who both were inspirations to his own entrepreneurial spirit. And what grew from this entrepreneurial ingenuity is now a bountiful business specializing in quality, custom sized belts and strapped goods.

Quality at the heart of what they do

The husband duo source their materials from England. Their Oak Bark tanned leather actually comes from the last remaining Oak Bark tannery in the country. Oak Bark tanned leather is a type of leather that's made without chemicals or acids, ensuring that it will survive for years to come. The slow, 15-month tanning process maintains the alignment of the natural fibers in the leather. This creates a leather that is hard-wearing and ages beautifully. Their goal is to create a product that will last generations. And Ryan and Will don't just test their products, they use and abuse every item before it can leave the workshop.
