Meet The Team: Anika Hager
Meet Anika, the Operations Manager here at Minneapolis Craft Market!
In a nutshell, Anika tackles customer service and digital marketplace maker support, Popshop Live scheduling and behind the scenes tech support, market management (in non-Covid times), and blog writing (that’s right - this is me writing my own blog feature. Hi!!). I’ll switch to first person now :)
I started with MCM back in 2017, helping to manage markets here and there, and have grown in my role since then. As a maker myself, and lover of all things local, I feel so much pride for being involved with Minneapolis Craft Market. Hayley, our founder, has cultivated the most genuine, supportive, and innovative community for small businesses and creative entrepreneurs in MN.
My favorite part of working for Minneapolis Craft Market? The people. Our MCM team is a tight knit group, and many of our makers are also our friends. There’s something so resilient about Minnesota makers. A close second favorite part is the atmosphere of in-person markets. I’m so eager to get back to them!
Who Am I?
A Minnesotan born and raised, I have a fondness for the way our state embraces the outdoors. No matter the conditions or extreme temperatures, we always find a way to enjoy ourselves outside. Whether it’s mountain biking, skiing, paddling, or walking my dog, you can find me out there all year round. But don’t get me wrong- I also love me a cozy night in, a hefty netflix binge (currently rewatching Schitt’s Creek), cooking a yummy meal from scratch, or sitting down with a good book. Life is all about balance!
First place I’m traveling once the world is Covid-Safe:
I’ve had Banff, Alberta at the top of my list for a couple years. I would love to see its glacial lakes in the summer, or take a winter ski trip!
A movie I could watch 5,000 times and never get sick of:
Moana
First concert I’ll see when it’s safe:
Leon Bridges
Current favorite quote:
“I’m speaking”
People and Planet
Aside from having the pleasure of working for MCM, as well as working with local woman-owned environmental consultant Native Sustainability, I run my own art business: Anika Hager Creative. Yep…my life is a bit of a juggling act. Through my art business, I create custom topographic maps, custom painted skis, and other outdoor inspired art. I donate 10% of my sales to climate action and environmental justice organizations. With a background in environmental science and a strong belief in doing good for the planet and people, I am so excited to have found a way to leverage my art into something that gives back to an issue I care about!
