Featured Shopper: Camille Galles
Camille Galles is a digital marketing consultant and business owner who misses Minneapolis, very much. She currently lives in Hyattsville, Maryland but If you’ve received an email from Minneapolis Craft Market or Lunar Startups recently, she probably wrote it. Some in Minneapolis might also recognize her as their former barista at Butter Bakery Cafe!
After we opened our Digital Marketplace, we brought Camille onto the team to strengthen our e-commerce strategy ahead of the holiday shopping season. She helps recruit sellers to our platform, encourage sales, and make sure all our digital systems are running smoothly. Why is shopping local important to you?
I’d much rather support a local entrepreneur than give more money to corporations with shady business practices! Not to mention, shopping local reduces my environmental footprint and means I can find cute stuff that no one else has.
What are your favorite kind of gifts to give?
Well, I love buying surprise gifts. When I lived in Oakland, I remember seeing a postcard at a local bookstore with a dancer on it that instantly reminded me of one of my best friends. I bought it and it made her day when it arrived. I recently got my boyfriend a sweatshirt to celebrate his new job. The best gifts don’t have to come with a birthday or holiday attached!

One of my work from home necessities is lighting a candle to help me get in the zone. Something about adding a little fire to the atmosphere helps me get sh*t done! I'm excited for this scent, and that this candle is so big!
I've stepped up my cooking game recently and I need to stop stealing my roommate's cutting board! The stripes on this board are so striking, and it would look good left out on the counter. Although I definitely *always* clean up right away...
When I was little, my mom loved hitting craft markets in Wisconsin and would always bring me. I have so many fond memories of shopping with her and pouring over craft tables. She always supported local art! I'd love to surprise her with a Minneapolis Craft Market Gift Card and shop online together when I visit her in October.
